Question: What is a Color Nerd?
Answer: A Color Nerd is a person that is passionate about color, obsessed with color+design, and is an expert at architectural color formulation.
Colorhouse’s Chief Color Nerd is Puji Sherer. Puji received a B.F.A. in Painting and Ceramics from Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, IN. Upon moving to Portland, OR in her early 20s, she became the first employee of Colorhouse. Since 2005, Puji has been developing new Colorhouse palettes, color trend forecasting, and collaborating with our partners to create exclusive color collections. What is Puji’s favorite part of her job? Being in the studio and dreaming up fun and colorful DIY projects for Colorhouse’s MAKE THIS series.
Lynn Morgan is Puji’s fellow Color Nerd. Lynn has a degree in interior design from Eastern Kentucky University. Working in the paint industry for 25 years, Lynn responds to all of Colorhouse Free Color Help inquiries, assists Puji with color development, and can be found in the studio painting the backdrops for our DIY projects. What is Lynn’s favorite part of her job? Helping people create a beautiful, harmonious color palette for their homes.

Hi! On the first page of your site it says the paints are “self priming” but then when I look at the colors it says to purchase primer separate.
I’m painting my business walls, with an environmentally friendly desire. First time painting! Please give me any tips you can!
Thanks
Kim
Hi Stephanie,
Colorhouse paint is self-priming for previously painted surfaces in good condition. When applying to new drywall or over surfaces previously painted with oil paint, prime with Colorhouse Multi-Purpose Primer before painting.

Currently in my great room ( living, dining, kitchen) I have Stone 4 sills, baseboards and jambs with Water 5 accents (doors and built in bookcase), the walls are Leaf 3.
I want to repaint the walls keeping the lighter color and paint my kitchen cabinets, not the Water or Stone, but a darker maybe gray hue?????
What do you suggest for the walls and cabinets?
Kim
Hi Jan! Try BISQUE .05 for walls and METAL .05 for cabinets. And send us pics when you are done painting!
