Most of our MAKE THIS projects start with a level and a pencil. Instead of painting over this part of the process, we decided to make it the star of this DIY. For a subtle pattern that has an organic, yet structured look, try this crisscross design.
Here’s what you will need to get ‘er done:
1 gallon Colorhouse GLASS .02 flat
1 qt untinted Colorhouse flat neutral base
Level + Pencil
Roller set up
Paint brush
Using the level, make tick lines on both horizontal and vertical planes. These will be your guides as you freehand lines across and down.
Have fun drawing on your walls!
In order to prevent smudging of the pencil lines, we rolled a coat of Colorhouse untinted neutral base over the top of the grid. This will seal the lines in place without creating a glossy finish. You are all done- great job!

I am wondering if colored pencil might also work, or would it be too waxy and resist the top coat?
Kim
Colored pencil would be cool! Just skip the top coat step — it would likely be too waxy.
