This cute geometric DIY can be done during naptime with hues from our Pinwheel Palette. Our Color Nerds take you step-by-step through this nursery design, as featured in the Color Issue of Oregon Home magazine.

You will need
2″ blue painter’s tape
Pencil
Level
Paintbrush
2 3/8″ nap roller and trays
Dropcloth
1 quart of LIGHT .05 from the Pinwheel Palette
1 quart of BRIGHT .03 from the Pinwheel Palette

Step 1
Protect your trim from drips and splatters with blue painter’s tape. Use your level and pencil to draw a horizontal straight line 42″ up from the floor.

Step 2
Follow your pencil line with the tape.

Step 3
Seal the tape by putting a thin coat of the base coat color along the edge of the blue painter’s tape. This will ensure a perfectly straight line, as any bleed through under the tape will match the existing color and therefore be undetectable!

Step 4
Using the roller, paint Mint Ice Cream 2/3 of the way along the wall. Let dry. Apply a second coat if needed.

Step 5
Create a diagonal line with blue painter’s tape on top of the Mint Ice Cream.

Step 6
Seal the edge of the tape with Mint Ice Cream. Allow to dry. Cut in the shape with Pineapple Lollipop.

Step 7
Roll the inside of the shape with Pineapple Lollipop. Let dry. Apply a second coat if needed.

Step 8
Remove the tape! Pro Tip: Pull the tape away from the painted area in order to break the seal cleanly.

Voila!
